Lightning Fibre hits '10,000 connections' milestone, serving over 23,000 customers across East Sussex
Eastbourne Broadband operator and Internet Service Provider (ISP) Lightning Fibre recently connected it's 10,000th premises, and the network is now acccessed by over 23,000 customers in East Sussex (based on average UK home occupancy levels). Full Fibre broadband is both hyper fast and hyper reliable, and the company recently scooped the 'Best Consumer ISP' award at the Internet Service providers' Association awards*
As the network roll out continues, the company is adding hundreds of customers each week, and in Old Town Eastbourne 1 in 4 homes are now connected to this new independent network. Lightning Fibre works hard to communicate the benefits of local full fibre with a robust marketing campaign, including TV and Radio Advertising. A recent customer survey showed that 28% of customers had seen the TV advert, 26% had heard the radio ads (including on Seahaven FM, LBC, Heart, and More Radio) and 53% had seen a printed advert, including in Bourne Free and Hastings Observer.
As the new network provides an alternative to the Openreach network, the introduction of competition is improving customer service levels and reducing prices for consumers. The company does not impose annual price rises, so hated by consumers, and Ofcom have just announced a clamp down on such pricing tactics, favoured by the larger mainstream providers.
The company sponsors a range of local events including Eastbourne Carnival and Hastings Comedy Festival, and supports charities including Children with Cancer Fund and Holding Space.
From 17 January 2025, phone, broadband and pay TV providers will be prohibited from including inflation-linked, or percentage-based, price rise terms in all new contracts. This means consumers will be able to enter into contracts featuring £/p information ahead of annual price rises in 2025. Lightning Fibre does not increase your prices during your fixed, minimium service period.
Switching is easy, and typically an installation can be undertaken within 1 or 2 weeks from the date of order. Areas are being completed right now, and will be released to sale in the months ahead. The company recently added a Virtual Landline (VoIP) service and has expanded coverage to Brighton, Hove and Worthing in partnership with City Fibre.
