Lightning Fibre vs Openreach

Back to Blogs

Lightning Fibre prides itself on its work alongside important organisations within the local communities that we serve. And that pride is well placed in the Children with Cancer Fund that is based in Polegate, very near to our own headquarters.

This fantastic charity helps to provide a higher quality of life for children with cancer and their families. This could mean giving the children treats or experiences that they have missed out on due to the high cost in both time and money of being in hospital or receiving treatment. Over the years there have been laptops, trips, theatre breaks, football tickets, bedroom makeovers, cookers, dishwashers and much more donated to families.

Recently, on the 5th June 2022, Lightning Fibre and Openreach arranged to play a charity football match at Eastbourne Borough Football Club, in aid of the Children with Cancer Fund. The result was 3-2Openreach, but the real result was a huge pot of money raised from ticket sales, donations, and a raffle after the match!

After counting the total money raised, we now know that the matchday was able to make a whopping £2018 for the Children with Cancer Fund!

So, a big thank you to everyone who was involved in making the event happen, and to everyone who attended, and everyone who donated or bought a raffle ticket. And a big thanks to all the players on the day. Congratulations to Openreach for taking the win, we look forward to our next match!
