Polegate Mayor, Councillor Dan Dunbar, celebrates arrival of Full Fibre Broadband with local network operator, Lightning Fibre

East Sussex based AltNet Lightning Fibre, founded in Eastbourne in 2018, has started to turn Polegate into a gigabit-town, which - when completed - will make it one of the best connected towns in the UK, with average download speeds at least 3 times faster than delivered over the old copper network currently used by most homes.

Lightning Fibre started rolling out ‘fibre to the premises’ in Eastbourne from Oct 2020, and can now connect homes and businesses to its symmetric Full Fibre network in Polegate with the launch of the new ‘primary node cabinet’, ‘unveiled’ by Cllr Dunbar in his capacity of Town Mayor.

With a multi-million pound investment secured in 2020, the firm has created over 200 local jobs and improved the connectivity of thousands of homes and businesses. The company takes a ‘community-centric’ approach, supporting local charities, events and good causes, including the hugely popular Camper Marmalade Festival held in Polegate.

Prices start from £24 per month, with a social tariff for means-tested benefit recipients of just £15 per month. Hyper Fast (900Mbps or more, guaranteed at the modem) packages are available from £39 per month, fixed for 24 months. The company does not impose unfair ‘mid contract’ inflationary price hikes.
