Lightning Fibre launches its new FTTP Installation Engineer Academy, developing the engineers of the future to help roll out Full Fibre to the Premises.
Lightning Fibre is the leading local alternative network for Full Fibre broadband in East Sussex. We are headquartered in Eastbourne. Our broadband network has the ability to supply everyone with not just 1 Gigabit broadband but with multi Gigabits, symmetrically.
To enable us to expand our service more rapidly to meet overwhelming demand, we are undertaking a major recruitment drive to attract Trainee Installation Engineers. Based from our Polegate HQ, you'll cover the whole of East Sussex. Full training and support will be given.
What is the role?
Our FTTP installers are not just ordinary installation engineers, they are our secret weapon to connecting homes to a full fibre broadband network. As this is a customer facing role you will need to have a great attitude and be good with people. Since every home is different, you will need to think outside the box, problem solve and, most of all, the ability to leave our customers feeling great about our service.
Will l be given a vehicle?
Yes, you will need a full UK driving licence and - upon completion of your training - you will be issued a vehicle for work use (subject to availability).
How long is the training and what will l learn?
We will teach you the skills you need to complete Full Fibre installations to homes and businesses to the required high standard. You'll learn fibre blowing, splicing and full fibre installation techniques. Yo'll be on an exciting and steep learning curve - you will not just learn the fundamentals of the job but also, we will ensure you have completed the required Health and Safety courses and achieved the required accreditation - and all of this in just one month. After training you will be shadowing our experienced installers until you are ready to do your first install.
Will l be paid for training and is this a permanent job?
Yes, you will be paid throughout the training period and upon successful completion of your training you will join our permanent in-house installation team.
Anything l should be aware of?
Yes, from time to time our install team do encounter spiders or they may need to climb up poles so this role is not deemed suitable for those suffering from arachnophobia or vertigo.
