The Lightning Fibre Ice Rink is officially open in Eastbourne for a third consecutive year

The Ice Rink passed from the Your Eastbourne BID Team to the Feastival Events team in 2023, and marks the third consecutive year of the ‘Lightning Fibre’ Ice Rink, with headline sponsorship by local broadband company Lightning Fibre.

The rink was officially opened by the Ice Rink School’s Colouring Competition winner Olivia Odey-Knight, who was joined by Eastbourne's Mayor The Worshipful the Mayor, Councillor Candy Vaughan, and Lightning Fibre’s CEO, Stefan Stanislawski.

The Lightning Fibre Ice Rink, located outside The Enterprise Shopping Centre and Eastbourne Train Station, is also sponsored by Custard Design, Signtek, Southern Rail, Enterprise Shopping Centre and Visit Eastbourne, as well as a range of ‘rink banner sponsors’ including Brufords, Lansdowne Hotel, Westrocks Townhouse, Boom Battle Bar and Orbital. The ‘Beacon Buddy’ Penguin skate aids are sponsored by The Beacon.

Dave Richardson, one of the Directors of Feastival Events, said, "Feastival Events is committed to maintaining Lightning Fibre’s Ice Rinks popularity while introducing new and exciting experiences too."

This year, the Ice Rink includes the 'Bavarian Bier Haus', serving hot food and drinks (including mulled wine, of course), in a purpose-built, heated marquee. With food by The Big Kahuna Burger, including authentic German sausages, giant pretzels and fully-loaded nachos! The bar is open from 10am to 10pm every day until 31st December (closed on Christmas Day). The marquee can also be hired for Christmas Parties and there is a special New Year’s Eve party with live DJs and Ska-Per performing live (free entry).

The venue has free, full fibre broadband provided by Lightning Fibre, delivering hyper fast speeds to enable guests to upload their videos and photos to social media in 'seconds'.

Rob Reaks, Sales and Marketing Director, commented, "The Rink is back! It’s proving really popular, with some sessions already sold out. The Lightning Fibre Ice Rink is fully accessible for wheelchair users, and we’ve donated a skate session to Children With Cancer Fund Polegate, so children and families living with cancer can enjoy the rink for free."

Skaters need to be aged four and upwards, and children under the age of 8 years must be accompanied by an adult whilst on the ice.

Lightning Fibre was recently named the UK’s Best Consumer ISP (fewer than 50k customers) at the Internet Service Providers’ Association Awards 2023, and is rated Excellent on Trustpilot. Find out more at www.LightningFibre.co.uk
